With an expanded climate innovation agenda, the need to support and assess innovations and solution providers (rather than only focus on stakeholders as sources as emissions) is rapidly increasing. As the world is rapidly changing the drivers and opportunities will change. In order to meet different and changing demands this platform is user driven. It is meant as a matchmaking platform where users of assessments can communicate their needs to those developing tools and initiatives.

The Initiative

Mission Innovation Net-Zero Compatible Innovations Initiative (NCI)

NCI was launched at the Mission Innovation Ministerial meeting to develop a Framework for Assessing Avoided Emissions to support investors and funders to identify those system solutions and technologies that have significant ability or potential to contribute to reduced greenhouse gas emissions in society, so called, avoided emissions.

The role of digitalisation and innovation dominating in the early 2000’s, then a phase were start-ups and transformative solution and exponential growth around 2010’s. Currently a tension between companies looking to “report and comply” net-zero and those who want to deliver 1.5 °C globally sustainable solutions is growing.
